Dr. Umar Johnson & Fatherhood: One Wrong Thing vs. The Whole Picture

I’ve been watching this situation with Dr. Umar and his daughter, and honestly, I don’t think he’s a bad person. Did he do everything right as a father? Clearly not. He missed birthdays, graduations, and didn’t bring his kids together. That’s wrong. But does that make him a “deadbeat”? I don’t know about that.

I also don’t feel like kids should publicly drag their parents like this. Especially when you know there’s damage on both sides. No parent is perfect. Some fathers show love differently. Some just don’t realize the impact of their choices until it’s too late.

I’ve seen both sides. My kids’ father has other children, and he makes sure they all connect. I respect that because that’s what being a father is about too. But at the same time, I know not all men think that way.

So, my question is—does one wrong thing erase everything else a parent has done? Or do we have to look at the whole picture?
