Gloss Up: Controversial Moves and Memphis Drama

Gloss Up, aka Jerrica Russell, is a rapper from Memphis, Tennessee, who has been gaining attention in the music industry—but not always for the best reasons. While some people support her grind, I’ve never been a fan. To me, she just doesn’t have the charisma or presence of other Memphis artists.

Even after getting a BBL, Gloss Up still looks like an everyday person—not the star she’s trying to portray. She’s been linked to OC, a label that used to be a force in the industry but now feels like a shadow of its former self. Combined with her unremarkable image, I’m left wondering if she can truly last in the game.

Questionable Behavior

My skepticism about Gloss Up began when she made some off-putting comments about another Memphis rapper, Glorilla. In a video, she criticized Glorilla, saying, “If I was her, I wouldn’t take care of my parents.” That statement didn’t sit right with me—family comes first, especially when you’re in a position to help. Ironically, rumors suggest Gloss Up is barely able to take care of her own lifestyle. Her ex-manager has even claimed that she struggles to provide for herself and her children.

Then there was the drama with her sister. According to her sister, Gloss Up refused to pay $400 to bail her out of jail. Some people argued that her sister should have had her own money, but as someone who has been arrested, I know firsthand how tough it can be when you don’t have access to your own funds. For someone trying to portray herself as a star, $400 should’ve been nothing.

The Ex-Manager Incident

The recent incident with her ex-manager really solidified my feelings about Gloss Up. Reports say she ambushed her ex-manager and started attacking her. What made it worse was that she didn’t act alone—Tuson, who was present during the fight, allegedly blocked the ex-manager from leaving. This is the same Tuson who made headlines for criticizing Ari Fletcher because she didn’t give him $20,000 for a car. Now he’s out here involved in messy situations like this? It’s all just unnecessary drama.

A Pattern of Toxicity

Gloss Up’s behavior stands out even in comparison to other Memphis artists. K Carbon, for instance, has her own reputation for fights, but at least people sneak her—she doesn’t go out of her way to sneak others like Gloss Up did with her ex-manager. Her actions seem calculated and petty, and that’s not a good look for someone trying to build a career.

Final Thoughts

Gloss Up might have fans who enjoy her music, but her personal drama and questionable decisions overshadow her talent. From her controversial comments about Glorilla to her treatment of her sister and the ambush of her ex-manager, she’s not doing much to win people over.

Memphis has a lot of talented artists, but Gloss Up just doesn’t stand out in a positive way. What do you think—does Gloss Up have a future in the industry, or will she fade into the background as just another name? Let me know your thoughts!
